One month after the invitation and meeting previously described, which intended to explore potential synergies between the state of Bahia and Euroeste - the largest pig producer in Portugal and one of the largest in Europe - the investment is now completed through the purchase of a farm in Barra's County, and the project is ready to be implemented.

Pedro Garcia de Matos, in an interview to several Brazilian media, explains how the project is divided. The first part encompasses the implementation of an agro-industrial complex destined to plant cereals, which through a process of irrigation, drying, storage and processing result in the pig feed.

The second part of the project includes the slaughter and commercialization of the pigs. In an initial phase - expected to last 3 years - the annual production of 100 thousand pigs to national trade is predicted. Afterwards, the objective will be the project expansion and the consequent volume increase of pig production destined to exportation. According to João Leão, Vice Governor of Bahia, this meat will be highly competitive in Europe, because the feed used in pig production in Europe is "originates from western Bahia".
